ARTE is sad to say goodbye to Paul and Claire Townsend tomorrow. Friday the 27th of March is the last ARTE market for our founding father and his ever-present and supportive wife.
Our artisans will miss Paul’s helpful coaching and creative input. His great sense of humour usually translates into his individual fashion sense. We are sure everyone will miss his several fleeting runs through the tables during Friday morning ARTE set-ups, his advice on displaying and selling and his constant passion and encouragement to develop skills as an artisan and a small business person.
A self-taught silver smith, Paul began his jewelry making in 2002 and founded his artisan alter-ego Mr. BeauJangles. His success took off with a cult following for his Space Invaders cuff links and he has since created a variety of specialized theme cuff links for men and a line of women’s pendants.
Claire’s cheerful attitude and bright smile greets the vendors at the registration table at every market. Her constant support for ARTE has been invaluable. With a fabulous flair for design, Claire displayed her own creations of home interior accessories alongside Paul’s jewelry.
The Townsends are a beautiful close-knit family and it is only understandable that as caring parents, they are following their two bright daughters to the UK. Ella is currently studying her veterinary degree and Clara is studying music, already making a name for herself with her all-girl band. We wish the Townsends many more happy adventures together and all the best in their future endeavours.
Paul and Miriam started ARTE in 2005 with the dream to provide a platform for local artisans to showcase their talents. Their little prospect had grown to the successful flourishing ARTE it is today. We are very grateful for everything Paul has done to develop ARTE and we are sad he will miss our big birthday in September. Please pass by their table tomorrow to say goodbye and have a last chance to own an original Mr. BeauJangles design!
