My, oh my, how time flies! The first month of ARTE is completed! Our first three markets have set the momentum in motion and we will grow stronger and busier with February fast approaching. Next month is of course, the month of LOVE. Special events always sprout the creativity of our artisans. Valentine’s Day is usually such an inspiration to showcase the love that we put into our products. Expect hearts, bling, flowers and a lot of red! The first ARTE for February is the 13th at Times Square Center- perfect for the last minute shopping for that ‘someone special’. You can find the next dates on our bookmarks:
Gordon grabs attention
One can say Gordon Graber’s layered artworks are inspired by his diverse family heritage. Born in Lebanon to a Lebanese mother and a Swiss-American father, Gordon grew up in the USA before moving to Dubai 10 years ago.
Admitting to being a night owl, Gordon loves montages that combine disparate images and ideas. “My inspiration is the connection between old and new; between the known and unknown; between traditional art forms and styles and mathematics, science and computing”. His current themes are inspired by the juxtaposition of traditional Arabic geometric patterns with Western imagery and art forms such as abstract expressionist styles.
An avid guitar player, Gordon is a computing professional acting as a consultant and instructor of Multimedia, Computer programming and development. It is this digital background that makes his multimedia artwork so interesting. His process involves creating imagery in computer programs such as Photoshop, which he transfers via various processes on to watercolour paper. From there, he starts layering his artworks using a variety of stencils, layers of paper and acrylic medium and paint as he builds the artwork to its final composition.
Take a little break from the busy ARTE buzz and find calmness and cool at Gordon’s art space. The gentle touch of colours and the intricate detail is definitely grabs the attention. Alternatively, visit Gordon’s website for further details on his diverse collection of works.
