Nisha Sood believes in improving one’s way of life. She does this mainly through her handmade accessories that enhance the beauty of one’s home. Hailing from India, she now lives in the Middle East since thirteen years, out of which she has been handcrafting for twelve years. She gains her inspiration mainly from nature and uses 100% cotton for most of her creations.
Nisha loves reverse appliqué projects because, in her words, “I love seeing how the design grows and evolves and the results are always breath-taking and beautiful.” In simple terms, reverse appliqué is a technique where the appliqué fabric is placed inside the garment. Once the embroidery is done, you get to see the exposed appliqué fabric underneath the garment.
At Nisha’s stall at both the ARTE markets, in Dubai Festival City Mall and Times Square Centre, you will have seen cotton baskets and quilted wall hangings. She says, “Most of my big orders come from ARTE. I also get to meet like-minded people and we bounce back creative ideas off each other.”
